Summer School
Bookings are currently being taken for the three day summer school where we will be learning different dance styles. This is open
to Spotlights members and non members so why not bring a friend.
Saturday Classes Hall Change Next Term – IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
I know some of you are aware there will be building work commencing at the Airfield Centre in September and ongoing we will no
longer be able to have the Backroom for classes. We are going to move to the Woodley C of E Primary School which is opposite
the Airfield Centre, and this will give us more room.
There is a possibility that be unable to use the school for the first few weeks of term and if this is the case then we will either use
the Airfield Centre or Keephatch School in Wokingham. I will not know where we are until August and will send out an email and
update the website with details as soon as I have them.
Sunday June 6th – Rivermead Reading
We took 35 girls from Spotlights and were one of 37 schools performing. We were the only school with three slots, Latin,
Cheerleading and Rock ‘n’ Roll. I was very proud of the girls and comments we received from the event organisers and audience
were all fantastic. Well Done.
Those who have not paid their £1.00 for the photo’s of the event please do so asap, I will distribute the photos in the next few
weeks.
Medal Test
We had a fantastic set of results in the medal test and the examiner commented that we were the best school that she had
examined in a long time, so thank you for all dancing so well and for looking so good. The marks definitely reflected that. The top
marks in each discipline were as follows:-
Freestyle 98 Gemma Hanks & Kate Purdy
Rock ‘n’ Roll 96 Amy Taylor & Emily Wade
Ballroom 96 Adele Hanks
Latin 95 Ella Walkington
Medal Presentations
Sat 11th Sept 9.00 class will be in their lesson. 10.30 class will be at 11.15
9.45 class and Adv Stars will be at 11.15 Stars will be at 12.00
Rising Stars will be at 12.45
Cheerleading Classes
We have spaces in our 6.15 – 7.00 class so if you are year 2, 3, 4 or 5 (in September) and would like to join please let me know.
Adult Classes
A full list of our classes is on the website. New beginner classes commence on Tuesday (in Woodley) and Wednesday (in
Wokingham) from September.
Show photos are now on Snapfish.
Uniform I will be placing an order in September for Jackets and Joggers (order form on website).
Shoes – If you are buying Latin shoes please ensure that the backs are closed in to prevent the girls from twisting their ankles.
Finally a little whinge. We have had a number of cases recently where girls have been dropped off very early or collected very late
from classes and in some cases we have even had other children dropped off and left for an hour and a half at the Airfield Centre. If
there is ever the need to do this you must let me know so that we know who we are responsible for.
